Room & Board Plans New York Flagship

New York's Chelsea residents will soon have another furniture store to browse.

Home goods seller Room & Board has signed a lease for a 60,000-square-foot space between Seventh and Eighth avenues.

The lease includes space on the first, second and third floors. Though the Minneapolis, Minn.-based company will continue to operate its New York showroom on Wooster Street in SoHo, the Chelsea outpost will become its main flagship.

"Chelsea is a thriving area," said John Gabbert, CEO of the 12-store chain, noting the neighborhood's collection of residential high rises, warehouses and art galleries. Room & Board competitor Bo Concept is also located nearby, as is the crowd-attracting Chelsea Market
