Finnish furniture design company Artek has opened an e-commerce Web site to service the United States.
The Web site follows up on the 2010 opening of Artek's showroom and office. The company said its sales structure has grown through new dealer networks and representatives supporting retailers at a local level.
In 2011, Artek acquired furniture supplier Tapiovaara and has increased its furniture offerings in a variety of finishes. The company also recently acquired the Kukkapuro, another Finnish furniture company.
The U.S. e-commerce site offers retailers and sales representatives detailed product information and allows for quick ordering. The site also gives consumers the opportunity to order online.
"The aim is to increase brand awareness and bring the Artek product collection in front of a larger audience," said Simone Vingerhoets-Ziesmann, executive vice president of Artek USA. "This will lead to an increase in sales traffic of our clients and dealers. All our preferred dealers that have invested in the brand in the past are listed on our site to drive traffic to the existing stores, our long-term partners. Artek can only continue to invest and develop new products if we are successful in sales. We trust that establishing a U.S. entity and the improvements in our customer service team have helped to serve our dealers better, and we appreciate your sport of the brand in return."
