“Paula is extremely knowledgeable about decorative and fine arts and is well connected in the industry," said Board President Charlie Sutton. "She is skilled in fundraising, marketing and communications. She will be an
excellent complement to the many talented people on the board.”
Fogarty’s professional career has focused on upper-level management in marketing, design, finance, and operations. As president of Kindel Furniture, she adapted and innovated product lines to adapt to changing consumer demands and streamlined operations for greater profitability. As owner of her own marketing and strategic consulting firm, Paula Scott Unlimited, she and her team assisted both established brands and startups in creating consistent communications across channels, including their internal cultures.
“My belief is that only through the education of bright young people coming up now can the American furniture industry survive," Fogarty said. "There is much work to do on the educational front about the industry, as there are no textbooks on the subject. I have a passion for furthering the education of people in the furniture industry—whether they are just
entering, or are seasoned veterans. I am a natural student, teacher and historian. One of my personal goals is to raise awareness of The Library and to encourage the use of the books, drawings and meeting rooms. It is an incredible resource for everyone in our industry, and more people should take advantage of it.”
Fogarty recently earned a Masters Degree from Savannah College of Art and Design in Art History. She chose to go back to school in midlife to pursue her lifelong passion. Currently a freelance writer, Paula blogs for Metropolis Magazine, which follows her research on the role of women in the American furniture industry. She also writes for Chair Culture, Connect Savannah, and other publications. She has served on several boards and lives in Savannah with her Jack Russell Terrier, Charles.
"Paula will make a great addition to the Board of Directors," said Board Member Russell Bienenstock. "As an art historian, teacher and writer, she has a deep appreciation for the rare books and drawings in our archives. Like the other board members, she is passionate about the home furnishings industry and wants everyone to share our resources.”
