Jacksonville Jaguars, Ashley HomeStores Kick Off Season
2013 by in Community / Charitable Support, Industry
The Jacksonville Jaguars helped honor more than 80 Ashley Furniture HomeStore top performers at its recent NFL pre-season opening game.
The team hosted the honorees in three executive suites and on the field. The invitation highlighted the multi-year partnership with Ashley Furniture HomeStore, the Jaguar's official furniture and mattress store.
The event Friday night also celebrated the HomeStore's A Hope to Dream charitable program, which provides mattresses to children without beds in which to sleep. A week prior to the game, Jaguar team members and employees of the HomeStores hosted a sleepover at EverBank Field for 50 children and their parents. The beds the children slept in were then delivered to their homes the next morning.
To date, Ashley Furniture HomeStores have delivered more than 5,000 Ashley-Sleep mattress sets to children in need. The program began locally in Jacksonville, Fla., in January 2011, and continues to spread throughout the national HomeStore network. A portion of proceeds from every mattress purchased at the local Jacksonville, Fla., HomeStores helps fund free beds to local First Coast kids in need. Ashley Furniture HomeStore CEO Howard Fineman says it is his team members and the people who buy mattresses to support the program that deserve the praise.
"We were on one delivery and the little boy getting the bed had just lost his first tooth," Fineman said. "He kept saying 'Mom! Now the tooth fairy can come and see me! I have a bed! I have a pillow!' That day-not only did our drivers deliver the bed...but when they saw the look on Mom's face...they made sure she had money for the tooth fairy. Those are the kind of people I am honored to work with at our Ashley Furniture HomeStores."
