King Koil Welcomes Back Damewood as EVP of Business Development

Mattress manufacturer King Koil has announced that Kevin Damewood has rejoined the company as executive vice president of business development.
Damewood, a 30-year mattress industry veteran who has held senior sales and marketing posts with some of the industry’s leading bedding brands, will focus on expanding the brand’s relationships with existing and new retail accounts in the central and eastern United States.
As part of its growing strategic partnership, Damewood will focus his activities on initiatives for both King Koil corporate and Blue Bell Mattress, which is the brand’s manufacturing partner in the Eastern U.S.
“Kevin’s understanding and relationships in the retail community will be a very important part of our ongoing strategy. He consistently develops winning strategies and we see him as a strategic advantage of us as we continue to develop our direct manufacturing model,” said David Binke, CEO of King Koil.
“Being able to bring someone of Kevin’s caliber on board is one of the examples of how our increased partnership with King Koil is bringing greater benefit to our clients and company. By sharing this resource, our customers and people will be able to benefit from his deep knowledge of the market and extensive dealer contacts,” said Mark Kolovson, CEO of Blue Bell.
Damewood was King Koil’s SVP of sales in 2009 and 2010, when he left to become SVP of sales and marketing for Kingsdown.
He began his mattress industry career at Sealy, where he spent 10 years as a sales representative and district sales manager. He also spent 10 years at Simmons as a regional vp and SVP of sales and marketing. His experience also includes time as vp of national sales at Premier Bedding Group and two years with Spring Air as EVP of sales.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Boston, Damewood resides in the Washington, D.C., area.
