HFA Announces 2 New Staff Members

Candy BakerDoug ClarkThe Home Furnishings Association has announced the addition of new staff members Doug Clark and Candy Baker.

Clark has been hired as content manager and Baker as advertising and sponsorship manager for the association, both will work in the marketing department where they will report to Dan McCann, HFA’s director of marketing and branding.

Clark’s job responsibilities will include leading all aspects of developing content for HFA’s extensive RetailerNOW Network which includes their magazine, website, blogs, podcasts, webinars, and collateral materials. He will also lead HFA’s reporting of government relations and legislative issues, a key area of interest to all retailers

Prior to joining HFA, Clark was an editorial writer, columnist, blog author and editor for the News & Record in Greensboro for 14 years. In addition to numerous awards from the N.C. Press Association, the N.C. Bar Association honored Clark with its 2017John G. Medlin Award for contributions to the cause of judicial independence and integrity. His background also includes 20 years as an editor and writer for the High Point Enterprise and media relations posts in Washington, D.C. 

“We've hired Doug to carry out our new vision of consistent content development across all our channels,” said McCann. “He is enthusiastic and excited about our new approach that will involve him very early in the development of content, an approach he believes will help revolutionize our position in the industry.”

Clark majored in Journalism at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

In her new position with HFA, Baker will be responsible for all HFA advertising and sponsorship opportunities. “Candy brings with her an impressive and well-rounded history in the home furnishings industry. She has held positions with the High Point Market Authority, Furniture Today, as well as in the furniture retail sector,” said McCann. “You won't find many people who know the industry from all aspects like Candy does”.
