Emerald Home Furnishings has expanded its leadership team by adding Douglas Spencer as president and creating a new role of CEO for former President David Beckmann.
“I love this company and the great successes we have accomplished together,” said Beckmann. “The addition of Doug will help us continue to grow as a leader in whole-home furnishings.”
Spencer comes from furniture retailer Empresas Berrios in Cidra, Puerto Rico, where he served as corporate group vice president and chief operating officer for the past five years. During that time, he led the successful transformation of the core business and the addition of five Ashley Furniture HomeStore locations in the past 12 months.
Spencer has decades of experience in furniture retail operations, sourcing, and manufacturing, and spent more than 11 years of his career based in China and Vietnam, respectively. His retail background includes a vp role with Heilig Meyers and a SVP role at American Signature/Value City.
"He has been a friend of Emerald for many years," said Beckmann. "We welcome his vast industry knowledge and look forward to great things from him as the next President of Emerald."
Both Spencer and Beckmann will be with the Emerald team during Fall High Point Market. The company welcomes guests to stop by and say hi, join the team for lunch, and see the latest collections at Showroom 201 - Centers of High Point, Hamilton Building.
