ASID Releases Newest Case Study for “Impact of Design” Series

As part of its "Impact of Design" case study series, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has released an in-depth look at a unique Austin, TX home that fuses sustainability and health principles with comfort and beauty. The home is owned and designed by Laura Brit, ASID.

Britt used healthy and sustainable design strategies in the architecture, spatial layout, and overall product selection, creating a healthy building inside and out. The WELL Building Standard was also referenced throughout, with a focus on air quality, energy efficiency, and water conservation.

Project result highlights include: producing more energy by solar array than consumed; Implementing a tankless water heater, only igniting when hot water is needed; and Installing electrical lighting fixtures specified as LED for high efficiency purposes, using as little as 15% of the energy of conventional lighting with a life expectancy up to 50,000 hours.
