Fast Fact: Vietnam Grows to 13% of U.S. Imports in 2017

Out of over 200 countries exporting furniture into the U.S., over 90 percent of U.S. imports is from just 9 of those countries. China tops the list with an import value of $18 billion in 2017, followed by Vietnam at $4 billion.
Data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that China’s furniture exports have grown to roughly 60 percent of total U.S. imports – up 19.3 percentage points from 2002 to 2017.
While Canada has diminished as a major player in U.S. imports, plummeting from 18.3 percent to 5.6 percent in 15 years, Vietnam has jumped from 0.5 percent of total U.S. imports in 2002 to 13 percent in 2017.
