Fairfield Highlights Local Charity Ventures

Upholstery resource Fairfield has shared its philanthropic ventures over the summer. In its commitment to support the local community, the company worked with Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, aided the renovation of Bethel Colony of Mercy’s new women’s campus, made donations to West Lenoir and Valmead Elementary Schools, and participated in Relay for Life events.

Fairfield formed two teams of employees that each assisted in the last stages of building a house for the Caldwell County Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program. The Women Build program encourages women to use various resources and skills to help build a Habitat home alongside the future homeowner.

Employees also united to help clean the grounds of Bethel Colony of Mercy, a Christian ministry founded to aid men struggling with addiction and substance abuse. The facility recently acquired a property that will become its women’s campus, and Fairfield helped prepare the grounds for opening. The campus is expected to open in late summer.

In efforts to give back to the local education systems, the company put together 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to donate to students at West Lenoir and Valmead Elementary Schools, two Title 1 schools in the area. In addition to backpacks, Fairfield gave a $20,000 donation to the schools.

Maintaining its commitment to Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Fairfield organized a cookout and pie-throwing contest to raise money as well as participated in the annual Relay for Life walk-a-thon. Matching donations combined with funds raised by walk-a-thon participants and the cookout totaled $22,827.50.

“As a company, we put a lot of emphasis on the importance of supporting the surrounding community,” said Jamie White, vp and chief financial officer. “It’s really exciting to see how eager people are to give back.”
