Star Furniture Promotes Gjertsen to VP, Merchandising

Star Furniture, a Berkshire Hathaway furniture division retailer, has promoted Sharon Gjertsen to vice president, merchandising, effective July 1.
Gjertsen joined the Star team in January 2018 as senior buyer, stationary and motion upholstery. She will report to Jodi FitzGerald, chief commercial officer.
“Sharon has already made a major impact on improving processes and implementing best business practices in her first six months here,” FitzGerald said. “She is extremely capable and is the right person to fill this role.”
Star will now begin a search for Sharon’s replacement.
Gjertsen came to Houston-based Star Furniture from Art Van Furniture, where she had been senior upholstery buyer since 2006. Prior to that, she was vice president, merchandising at Kane’s Furniture, based in St. Petersburg, Fla.
