Fast Fact: U.S. Population Growth by Race

Data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows the changes in population and growth in diversity between 2010 and 2016.

Over the six-year time span, the contribution to population growth came primarily from the White Hispanic population at 41.2 percent of the population, followed by the Asian population at 22 percent.

Of the 14.4 million new residents in the U.S., Persons of Two or More Races was the fastest growing category, increasing 21.4 percent to 2.6 percent of the population. Asians increased 20.8 percent over six years, while White Hispanics grew 13.3 percent.
