Legends Promotes Rathnam to Chief Operating Officer

Case goods manufacturer Legends Furniture has promoted Shankar Rathnam to chief operating officer. He replaces Jim Goergen, who is no longer with the company.
Rathnam began his career with Legends in 2004 as a production advisor, specializing in lean manufacturing, then moved to the position of supply chain director in 2008, directing all import operations. He will continue to lead the import division as he takes on the duties of COO.
“I’m very excited to have Shankar heading up our company’s operations,” said Rick Schmidgall, founder and president. “His years of dedicated service and mission critical experience will be a difference-maker as we move forward. Shankar is respected by the entire company. He appreciates our culture and is a beloved member of the Legends family. We couldn’t be happier with our choice.”
Rathnam received an engineering degree from the University of Bombay and worked in project sales and management for seven years. After immigrating to the United States in 2000, he received his MBA in international business from Thunderbird International School of Business. Rathnam attained his U.S. citizenship in 2017.
