Fast Fact: Industry Sales, Typical Drop in Q1

After a strong fourth quarter, furniture and bedding sales took a typical first-quarter dip but maintained growth over the first quarter of last year, according to the proprietary market model from Impact Consulting, parent company of Home Furnishings Business.
Furniture and bedding sales totaled $26.66 billion in the first three months of 2018, compared to $25.51 over the same time period in 2017.
Despite the 2 percent drop in sales from the fourth quarter of 2017 to the first quarter of 2018, industry sales are up 4.5 percent compared to first-quarter sales last year.
