Fast Fact: U.S. Migration, Big and Small America

Geographical spread of the American Population has transformed the U.S. into Big and Small America, a term coined by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Due to greater job opportunities and the lure of warmer climates, 50 percent of the population now lives in 143 counties with the remaining country spread out over 2,999 counties.
Big America keeps growing as 10 percent of the population resides in just seven counties, three of which are in California.
