Furniture First Taps Coomber for Director Post

Mattress industry veteran Warren Coomber has joined the staff of Furniture First as Director of Sleep Products and Mattress 1st stores.
Coomber has 30 years of experience in a wide range of positions, most recently as general manager of his family’s third-generation business where he expanded Bedzzz Mattress Outlet to a four-location sleep shop chain in the Seattle area.
When the family exited retail, Coomber moved to the wholesale side, beginning his 14-year employment with Sealy. He held various positions including key account manager, training and development, regional manager for national accounts and senior key account manager.
After leaving Sealy, he joined International Bedding as vp of sales for the Dr. Breus Bed line, and eventually moved to Kingsdown where he achieved success with their largest accounts in the Central Region.
In between these roles Coomber worked as vp of merchandising and business development for a 24-store west coast sleep shop chain, Mattress Land SleepFit.
“I’m looking forward to working with the members,” said Coomber. “There are many exciting things going on with this group. I want to use my knowledge and experience to have a significant impact and help them grow their business.”

The buying group’s members operate a total of 88 store-within-a-store Mattress 1st galleries and freestanding Mattress 1st sleep shops.
