Hickory White Honored for Recycling, Trash Collection Practices

Case goods and upholstery resource Hickory White has been named winner of the annual “Green Market Award” for consistently following the city of High Point’s recycling and trash collection guidelines.

The award will be presented by city officials and representatives of the High Point Market Authority at 9:30 a.m. March 13 at the company’s showroom, 309 N. Hamilton St.

“Having a downtown that is clean and welcoming is important to our residents and to the thousands of Market guests and visitors we have twice a year. Businesses like Hickory White make it easier for our Public Services team to keep our city streets and sidewalks clean,” said High Point Mayor Jay Wagner.

“The City is encouraged by their attention to cardboard and trash guidelines and their overall cooperation during such a crucial time. On behalf of the City of High Point, I want to thank Hickory White for their commitment to the High Point Market and to keeping our city clean and green,” Wagner added.

City officials said a typical Market generates over 500 tons of cardboard in addition to other recyclable material, all of which is recycled by the city. Showrooms that comply with city guidelines help ensure that the collection of recycling and trash runs smoothly during a very hectic and busy time for the Public Services department.

Hickory White consistently followed the city’s collection guidelines, contributing to the clean and safe environment that participants have come to expect, officials said.
