Art Van Opens Applications for Annual Charity Challenge

Art Van Furniture has begun accepting applications for the annual Art Van Charity Challenge, during which charities in the Midwest compete for grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

Now in its 10th year, the event is open to any 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization focusing on women, children or human services that is located near an Art Van store in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and St. Louis, Missouri.

“As this spirited competition marks its tenth year, Art Van Furniture is steadfast in our commitment to reward charities dedicated to improving their communities,” said Kim Yost, CEO of the Michigan-based retailer.

Applications are being accepted through March 31. Organizations who are accepted for the program will participate in a fund-raising challenge from May 1 to May 20, during which customers and others in the community will donate money to their favorite challenge participants. The retailer will award a total of $305,000 in grants once the fund-raising challenge ends.

Supermodel and entrepreneur Cindy Crawford is the official ambassador for the event for the fourth straight years.

“I’ve been so inspired by the extraordinary individuals I have met over the past four years in my role as Art Van Charity Challenge Ambassador,” said Crawford. “The impact these nonprofits have in people’s lives is immeasurable. I am honored to be part of such a worthwhile campaign.”
