Vegas Poker Event Raises Record $130K for Autism Charities

The 10th annual Ante 4 Autism charity poker tournament raised a record $130,000 Saturday night and had a record 237 participants, event organizers announced Monday.

Organizers said the money came from tournament entry fees, a silent auction and from more than 40 sponsors.

“We set a record for the number of players at 237, and it was a truly special evening”, said tournament co-host Randy Coconis. “It is very satisfying to see all the people come out to play, socialize and support the autism cause.”

The tournament winner was Todd Gerdes, a regional sales representative with the Restonic Mattress licensee in Springfield, Mo. Runner-up was Las Vegas resident Brian Heglund.

The 5 charities that will receive the proceeds of the event are:  The Paula and Anthony Rich Center for Autism at Youngstown State University; Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at the Touro University Nevada; Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus - Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders; Autism Speaks; and the National Autism Association – Southeast Ohio Chapter.
