Pier 1, Flexsteel Name New CFOs

Two home furnishings companies, retailer Pier 1 Imports (NYSE: PIR) and manufacturer Flexsteel Inds. (NASDAQ: FLXS), have hired new chief financial officers.

Flexsteel said Marcus Hamilton, former global vice president of finance for Valspar Paints, will replace the retiring Timothy Hall, while Pier 1 has hired Nancy Walsh, former CFO of The Bon-Ton Stores, to fill its vacant CFO post.

Flexsteel said Hamilton will join the company Jan. 8. Hall will be retiring June 30, and will be working on the company’s business information systems project, the construction of its new factory in Dubuque, Iowa., and will continue serving as secretary to the board of directors until his retirement.

"Tim has been an outstanding CFO since taking that position in 2005, and has been a terrific leader throughout his career at Flexsteel," said Karel K. Czanderna, Flexsteel president and CEO. "We are grateful for his contributions to the company.”

Walsh’s appointment at Pier 1’s executive vice president and CFO is effective Jan. 25, when interim CFO Darla Ramirez will step down from that position, but will continue to serve at the company’s principal accounting officer and vice president and controller of its operating subsidiaries.

“Nancy comes to Pier 1 Imports with an extensive background in finance and retail,” said Alasdair James, president and CEO. “She has spent the better part of her 30-year career amidst iconic brands, home furnishings and specialty retail. We are confident Nancy has the financial skills and leadership needed to drive the strategic plans we’re presently developing. We are excited to have her join the Pier 1 Imports team.”

Walsh had been with Bon-Ton since 2015, and earlier spent 14 years in various finance posts at Tapestry Inc., formerly known as Coach. She also held finance and treasury posts at Viacom Inc., and Timberland.
