Massive Fire Destroys Former Lexington Home Brands Factory

A massive fire in Lexington, N.C., destroyed a former Lexington Home Brands factory on Tuesday, but apparently spared the historic Dixie Furniture smokestack that is one of the city’s landmarks.
Numerous media reports said no one was inside the vacant building when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.
Media reports said the property is owned by the city of Lexington, which hoped to redevelop the area.
