Specialty bedding producer Classic Brands has named mattress industry veteran Brian O’Neill as vice president of sales.
In his new role, O’Neill, who is based in Atlanta, will oversee the company’s domestic sales efforts.
O’Neill has 17 years’ experience on the wholesales side of the mattress business, and most recently was vice president of business development for Serta Simmons Bedding.
In addition to his wholesale experience, O’Neill has seven years of retail experience with Chicago-based Back to Bed and Youngstown, Ohio-based Sleepy Hollow Sleep Shop.
“Brian rounds out our growing sales management team, which will continue to support our growth. A proven sales leader, he will be a great asset,” said Michael Zippelli, CEO of Classic Brands. “His sales acumen is unmatched in the mattress industry, and we look forward to having him as a leading ambassador for Classic Brands’ wide portfolio of sleep products, best-in-class supply chain and high retail margins.”
O’Neill joins a management team that includes industry veteran J.P. Ledoux, who has been vice president of key accounts for Classic Brands since 2016, and Mark Owen, a longtime Simmons executive who was recently named executive vice president of sales and business development for Classic.
“I’m extremely happy to be part of this dynamic global team,” O’Neill said. “I look forward to leveraging my experience to add value to a successful business model that other vendors – even the largest in the category – can’t replicate. For more than two decades, Classic Brands has been quietly selling innovative mattresses and accessories and delivering these products through an efficient and proprietary supply chain.”
