United Furniture Completes Acquisition of Lane
December 11,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Acquisition, Industry
The deal includes Lane’s factory in Belden, Miss., and its Royal Development recliner mechanism plant in High Point, N.C., and United officials said it would be “business as usual” when both facilities begin operating under United’s umbrella today.
“We are excited about including the Lane brand with our United Furniture and Simmons branded products and equally excited to have the Lane team join the United Furniture family today,” said United Furniture President Larry George.
Officials said Lane products will be on display in a 10,000 square-foot showroom at next month’s Tupelo Furniture Market, which takes place Jan. 4-6. The new showroom is next door to United’s Tupelo showroom, which will feature Simmons branded upholstery and case goods.
A ribbon-cutting at the Lane space is planned for Jan. 4.
“We will be showing Lane’s FastLane express ship program of Lane’s best-selling motion furniture, Comfort King recliners, hi-leg recliners, mid-size recliners and stationary upholstery,” said Jay Quimby, executive vice president of sales at United.
Doug Hanby, United’s chief operating officer, said his team has been working hard to plan the transition process and the integration of Lane’s company systems into United Furniture.
“We fully expect a smooth merger over the next four to six months,” Hanby said.
The Belden factory that is part of the acquisition gives United eight factories in Mississippi. Others are in Nettleton, Tupelo, Okolona, Hatley, Sherman, Vardaman and Amory.
In addition, the company has factories in Archdale, High Point, Lexington, and Winston-Salem, N.C., and Victorville, Calif.
