Hooker Furniture Warehouse Sale Raises $41K for Charities

Hooker Furniture (NASDAQ: HOFT) raised more than $41,000 at a recent warehouse sale that benefitted two charities in Martinsville and Henry County, Virginia.

The company said the annual sale, which took place at Hooker Furniture’s customer service center in Martinsville, netted $41,386 that was split evenly between Grace Network and the Salvation Army of Martinsville/Henry County.

All furniture sold at the event was donated by the company, and Hooker Furniture employees and community volunteers helped promote the event and worked at the sale.

“Our warehouse sale has quickly become one of our most popular charitable initiatives in our community,” said Paul B. Toms, chairman and CEO of Hooker Furniture. “Our community looks forward to this bi-annual sale not only because it provides them with the opportunity to purchase quality furniture at a discounted rate, but also because it supports the many charitable foundations in our local area. Because finding a great deal also helps those in need, it’s a win-win for everyone.”

Grace Network helps clients who have fallen into a financial crisis connect with resources in the community to find financial well-being through education and job resources. Some of the funds will also help with purchasing items for the nonprofit’s food pantry.

Proceeds for the Salvation Army support its mission of supporting the community through its many programs and ministries.
