LV Market Names Architect Frank Gehry as 2018 Design Icon

Las Vegas Market said internationally acclaimed architect and Pritzker Prize recipient Frank Gehry, will be honored as the 2018 Design Icon at the upcoming Winter 2018 Las Vegas Market, Jan. 28 – Feb. 1.

As the head of Gehry Partners LLP, a full-service firm with broad international experience in academic, commercial, museum, performance and residential projects, Gehry has redefined architecture in numerous cities all over the world and continues to shape contemporary commercial and residential landscapes.

“Frank Gehry is indeed a design icon in every sense of the word,” said Bob Maricich, CEO of International Market Centers. “His buildings have taken architectural boundaries to new levels, encouraging professionals and the public to rethink any preconceived limitations about what architectural design can be.”

As the centerpiece of programming at the Winter Market, the Design Icon Award honors an architect or interior designer who has made a significant contribution to the industry throughout their career.

Now in its 12th year, the award seeks to highlight the achievements of exemplary design and architectural professionals while offering Las Vegas Market attendees an opportunity to connect with and learn from living legends.

Many of Gehry’s buildings are architectural landmarks across the globe, including: Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles; Neuer Zollhof, Dusseldorf, Germany; Chiat/Day Complex, Venice, Calif.; Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, Germany; Olympic Fish Pavilion, Barcelona, Spain; Dancing House, Prague, Czech Republic; Guggenheim Bilbao, Spain; and the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Las Vegas.

The Design Icon presentation will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 3 p.m. in the WorldView Room, 16th floor, Building B. The event will include an overview of Gehry’s work and a Q&A session with Maricich. Admission to the presentation is free and open to Las Vegas Market attendees.
