Report: Art Van Acquires Levin Furniture
November 21,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Acquisition, Industry
Levin Furniture, a family owned retailer with stores in the Pittsburgh and Cleveland markets, has been acquired by Art Van Furniture, according to several media reports.
According to KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, the stores will retain the Levin Furniture name and operate independently of Art Van. All existing stores will remain open, and the current management team will remain in place.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but CEO Robert Levin told employees he would share a part of the proceeds from the sale with them. “They deserve it, they’ve earned it, and I’m just thrilled to be able to do it,” he told KDKA.
Robert Levin is the third generation of the Levin family to run the company, which was founded in 1920.
The retailer currently has 15 full-line furniture stores and three clearance centers in the Pittsburgh and Cleveland markets. In addition, it operates 18 stand-alone Levin Mattress stores.
