Private Equity Firm Gets Stake in Classic Brands

A&M Capital Opportunities, a private equity firm focused on middle-market companies, has taken an undisclosed stake in mattress producer Classic Brands.

Classic officials said the private equity investment will help fuel its already rapid growth.

Headquartered in Jessup, Md., the company operates as a value-added manufacturing, sourcing, distribution and logistics partner to its customers across all retail and distribution channels, including the fast-growing bed-in-a box segment.

More than a year ago, Classic already had surpassed 2 million bed-in-a-box units deployed through major retailers.

“The entire Classic Brands team is excited to partner with AMCO as we position the business for accelerated growth. We look forward to tapping the strategic and capital resources the AMCO team will provide as we build the company to better serve our customers,” said Classic CEO Michael Zippelli. “This is a very exciting time for our company and this new partnership will be a significant enabler of our continued growth.”

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Classic Brands has a long history of excellence operating as a partner to traditional brick and mortar retailers and leading digital commerce platforms throughout the U.S. Classic’s full solution approach creates a strong value proposition to its customers, ultimately generating satisfied consumers,” said AMCO Managing Director and Co-Founder Drew Baird. “We are excited to support the management team as they look to drive the business towards its next phase of development.”
