Furniture and bedding sales were up 4.11 percent in the third quarter to $25.42 billion, according to the proprietary industry sales model developed by Impact Consulting, parent company of Home Furnishings Business.
The data, when compared with the third quarter of 2016, showed that sales received a slight bump at the end of the most recent quarter, as victims of Hurricane Harvey began replacing home furnishings destroyed by the storm.
Furniture sales totaled $21.38 billion, up 3.97 percent from last year’s third quarter, while bedding sales $4.04 billion, up 4.83 percent over the same quarter last year.
For the first nine months of 2017, furniture and bedding sales reached $74.29 billion, up 3.22 percent over the same period last year.
