An art auction organized by bedding accessories producer Malouf raised $41,314 for the Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse.
The Utah-based company said more than 100 guests enjoyed a nine-course meal prepared by Malouf Chef Courtney Larsen while bidding on 55 pieces of art donated by local artists.
Pieces included photography, sculpture, watercolor and oil paintings, including a stunning 50-inch by 70-inch painting of the Teton mountains by renowned Utah artist Kent Wallis.
“Last year, which was our first time putting on a fundraising event, we raised $22,000 for CAPSA,” said Sam Malouf, CEO of Malouf. “We had a goal to double what we did last year, and we came close to the mark in raising funds for an incredible organization that does critical work in our community.”
Malouf employees volunteered personal time to serve dinner, fill glasses and wash dishes to create an elegant experience and to make the most of donated funds, ensuring that all proceeds went to the non-profit organization, he said.
Funds from the Malouf Foundation event will support CAPSA therapy programs.
“The need for therapists who understand the trauma associated with domestic violence and sexual assault continues to increase as our waiting list continues to grow,” said CAPSA Development Director James Boyd, Jr. “The money raised at the Malouf art auction will ensure we continue to offer therapy services and allows us to support a client when they need us most.”
