FastFact: Consumer Spending on Furniture Tops $109 Billion in Q1

Consumer spending on furniture totaled $109.7 billion in the first quarter of 2017, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Major appliances was the second largest home furnishings category, with spending totaling $41.4 billion in the first quarter.
The data showed that spending on furniture and accessories such as lamps, lighting and clocks has grown more than 30% since the Great Recession ended in 2009. Furniture spending has increased 31.8%, while accessories spending is up 31.7%.
