La-Z-Boy (NYSE: LZB) has opened its 350th branded retail store, a 13,000 square-foot location in the Chicago suburb of Rockford, Ill.
The company-owned store, known as La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings & Décor, uses the “design concept” format that has been in place since 2011. The company said locations in this format have the highest average volume per store of any of its retail formats.
“It is a milestone to open the 350th La-Z-Boy location as part of our 4-4-5 store build out strategy across North America,” said Kurt Darrow, chairman, president and CEO. “Integral to our distribution, the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries network of stores offer consumers the flagship La-Z-Boy experience, complete with design services and our full product line.”
The Rockford store is the 16th company-owned store in the Chicago market, and Darrow said additional stores are planned.
The new location features fully accessorized room vignettes that provide design inspiration. In the Design Center, customers can use interactive technology to see any piece of furniture rendered in any of La‑Z‑Boy’s more than 900 fabrics and more than 100 leathers.
The store also offers free in-home or in-store design assistance.
“We are thrilled to open our 350th La-Z-Boy retail location and give consumers the opportunity to shop our iconic brand and experience our full product offering,” said Daniel King, president of the retail division for La-Z-Boy Inc. “Consumers continue to be surprised that La-Z-Boy manufactures more than recliners … and we love to see that look of amazement as they walk into our stores and see the beautiful furnishings we offer that will truly help transform their house into a home.”
