Boca Raton-based Sklar Furnishings is marking its 15th year anniversary serving the South Florida community and has announced its support for the local area by forging partnerships with one nonprofit mission a month.
From hosting in-showroom fundraisers and kick-off receptions for several nonprofits to underwriting the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes, the retailer hopes to lead by example.
“’Give back’ has always been part of what drives us. It really is a wonderful, inspiring cycle…the more we excel, the more we are able to give back to our community,” said Co-Owner, CEO and President Rick Howard.
Sklar Furnishings has been generous in hosting, underwriting, and sponsoring nonprofit events including donating new furniture to Habitat ReStores as a countdown to its November anniversary month. Running from September 2016 until the close of 2017, the initiative will benefit 15 non-profits.
During October breast cancer awareness month, Rick Howard participated in a “Real Men Wear Pink” fundraising campaign and the staff walked as a team in the “Making Strides” event to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The retailer also plans to host or sponsor events to benefit the Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, the Alzheimer's Association, the Junior League of Boca Raton and many others. Additionally, the company will be a Ruby sponsor of the 2018 Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival and has committed to hosting the festival’s post-event donors/sponsors/committee “thank you” event. They will also host an in-store adoption awareness day for POH Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
A member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council and a leader in green advocacy, Sklar deliberately forges furniture alliances around the globe with designers and manufacturers that share its strong commitment to the environment.
