WithIt, the women’s leadership development network for the home and furnishings industries, dedicated a bronze plaque at Market Square over the weekend to commemorate the organization’s 20th anniversary.
The plaque, which is inside Market Square near the courtyard, honors the founders, founding board of directors, and founding advisory council as part of the year-long celebration of WithIt's anniversary.
This permanent marker honors the first 20 years and spotlights the group’s mission, which is to encourage and develop leadership, mentoring, education and networking opportunities for professional women in the home and furnishings industries.
WithIt officials said the group chose to honor the founding board of directors and founding advisory committee because of their tireless work to raise funds, recruit members, create programs and build the organizational framework as a permanent recognition that women have had a significant influence on the industry.
“We are so thankful that International Market Centers has generously provided us with the space and opportunity to design a lasting tribute to celebrate the many women who worked so tirelessly to create WithIt,” said Dorian Stacy Sims, WithIt’s 2017 president and president of Stacy Furniture and Design in Dallas. “Now, 20 years later, we are grateful for their vision, commitment and determination for WithIt and the positive impact it has had on so many in our industry.”
Among those attending the unveiling of the plaque were two of WithIt’s founders, Kimberely Wray and Jenna Hall. The third founder, Margaret “Peggy” Traub, died in 2013.
WithIt also staged an anniversary party Saturday night that included a silent auction and a “walk of fame” honoring past winners of WithIt awards.
