N.C. Animal Rescue Group Seeks Furniture Donations for Auction

A North Carolina animal rescue group is seeking donations of furniture and bedding from High Point Market exhibitors that can be auctioned at a fundraiser.

Officials of the group Whiskers Rescue Foundation said the money will be used, among other things, to provide housing for animals in cold weather, medical vouchers, and building fences so dogs will not have to be chained.

The foundation was established last year to address the needs of animals in Yadkin County, N.C., and surrounding areas.

“As someone who has always had a heart for animals, I’ve spent years assisting the community in raising funds and awareness of local animal clinics and shelters,” said founder Alice Hinson Singh.

Prior to launching WRF, she worked with veterinarians to give out discounted medical vouchers and referral services when needed.

She said the foundation’s most recent fundraiser last month was a success due in part to donations from several home furnishings companies, including Klaussner, Magnussen Home and Therapedic.

“The home furnishings industry helped make our event very successful and the funds we raised by auctioning those donations is already being used to care for animals in need,” Hinson Singh explained. “That’s why we are asking the industry to donate any and all unwanted home furnishings to help us help local animals who are in need.”
