            Former Caracole President Scott Smith Named EVP at Vanguard

         Scott Smith, a 25-year furniture industry veteran who most recently was president of Caracole, has been named executive vice president of Vanguard Furniture.
Scott Smith, a 25-year furniture industry veteran who most recently was president of Caracole, has been named executive vice president of Vanguard Furniture.
In the newly created post, Smith will focus on sales and case goods merchandising, and play a key leadership role on the operations committee, said Andy Bray, president of the case goods and upholstery producer.
“Scott brings a high level of domestic and international executive experience to our team.  He is well respected in the industry and his merchandising skills will help us to grow to the next level,” Bray said.
Before joining Caracole, Smith held vice president-level posts at Lexington Furniture, Drexel Heritage, Legacy Classic and Klaussner Home Furnishings.
“I have long admired the products and leadership of Vanguard as a competitor, and feel very fortunate to be part of the team,” said Smith.
Vanguard has about 600 employees, and has factories in Hickory, N.C., and Hillsville, Va.
