WithIt to Celebrate Anniversary with Party, Silent Auction

WithIt, the women’s leadership development network for the home and furnishings industries, is celebrating its 20th anniversary during the upcoming High Point Market with a party and silent auction on Friday, Oct. 13, from 6 - 9 p.m. in the Lofts at Union Square.

In a nod to 20 years, the celebration has a Roaring ‘20s theme, complete with a Great Gatsby-themed photo opportunity and a speakeasy password for signature cocktails. Local wines from Surry Cellars, Locklear Winery and Hanover Park Winery will be served alongside heavy hors d’oeuvres. Musical guests Lulu the Giant will provide live entertainment.

“All year we’ve enjoyed commemorating the 20th anniversary of WithIt and we’ll continue that celebration Oct. 13 as we recognize the sponsors and corporate members who have partnered with us throughout our journey,” said WithIt President Dorian Sims. “The gala celebration is a must-attend event.”

Tickets are $50 for members and $75 for guests, can be purchased at www.WithIt.org.

During the evening, a silent auction will include manufactured items and artisan designs, and fresh-baked goods. Unique offerings include hand-tied fishing flies, antiques, art and ethnic jewelry. Most items are cash and carry.

The event also will include a “Walk of Fame” area that will honor 20 years of WOW award recipients -- both women and men who have been recognized for their education, leadership and mentoring efforts within the industry.

Silver sponsors for the evening are Cory Home Delivery, AmericasMart, International Market Centers and MicroD. Other event sponsors are Flexsteel, Widget Home, Black Dog Salvage and FurnitureDealer.net. In addition, Truck Skins, Home Furnishings Business and Balanced Vintage are in-kind sponsors.

WithIt began in 1997 when a small group of women – Kimberly Wray, Jena Hall and Peggy Traub – came together to form an association that supports women in their professional roles in the home furnishings industry. Twenty years later, the organization boasts members in the U.S., Canada and select countries around the world, and features scholarship and mentoring programs and an annual education conference.
