FastFact: Low-Income Households Move More Frequently
September 5,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Economic News, Industry
Although mobility remains at an all-time low in the United States, data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that a significant chunk of movers are from low-income households.
The data showed that 18.6% of households below the poverty line, which is defined as income of $24,300 for a family of four, moved from 2015 to 2016.
By contrast, only 9.6% of Americans with incomes at or above 150% of the poverty line moved during that time.
