Ikea Sets Oct. 11 Grand Opening for Indianapolis-area Store

Swedish retailer Ikea said it will open its 45th U.S. store in the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers, Ind., on Oct. 11.

The 289,000-square-foot store and its 1,000 parking spaces are being constructed on a 35-acre site along the eastern side of Interstate 69, just south of the 116th Street exit.

Ikea officials said the store will reflect the unique architectural design for which IKEA is known worldwide, and includes one of Indiana’s largest solar rooftops, consistent with the solar presence at 90% of Ikea U.S. locations.

“We are thrilled by the excellent construction progress made to date, and believe we can complete the remaining milestones and interior build-up by mid-October,” said store manager Holly Davidson. “Besides furnishing our store, we also are focused on continuing recruitment and training of all the coworkers joining the Ikea family. We look forward to introducing a whole new way of shopping for the home to customers from Central Indiana and beyond.”

As is customary, the retailer will allow customers to being lining up at the store 48 hours in advance of the 9 a.m. opening time. Ikea said grand opening promotions and prizes will be posted soon at www.ikea-usa.com/fishers.

The store is Ikea’s first in Indiana. The nearest stores are in the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester, Ohio., and the Chicago suburbs of Bolingbrook and Schaumburg, Ill.
