Report: Florida Furniture Store Owners Face Fraud, Money Laundering Charges

The owners of Daytona Beach, Fla.-based Haynes Brothers Furniture face federal fraud and money laundering charges after being accused of fraudulently reselling toner cartridges, according to a story in the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

David Haynes and his sons, Jason and Kyle Haynes, who operate five furniture stores in the Daytona Beach area, faced similar state charges in 2015, but those charges were dropped in October 2016, the story said.

The new federal charges said the Haynes men and two others fraudulently obtained thousands of toner cartridges from Xerox by falsifying the number of copies they made. The cartridges were then resold at a profit of more than $9 million between 2008 and 2013.
