ASID Sets New Event for Industry Thought Leaders

The American Society of Interior Designers has announced a new event offering non-traditional programming and networking opportunities for today’s industry thought leaders.

Titled “Platform: A Retreat for Design Visionaries,” the event offers a broad spectrum of activities specifically built for high-level design experts. ASID said the program is aimed as principals, partners and owners, and will look beyond the design world to inspire its guests.

Speakers come from the worlds of tech, business, and more, and is designed to take participants out of their comfort zone and exposing them to a boundary-pushing, thought-provoking experience, the group said.

The event will take place Sept. 17-19 at the Fairmont Empress resort in Vancouver, British Columbia.

“At ASID, we’re always looking towards the future of design. Platform helps us guide this future and understand where the leaders of the industry are taking it and what they need to make it possible,” said Randy Fiser, CEO of ASID. “Platform will help us incubate these future-forming ideas, and most importantly, it will inspire and provoke today’s design leaders to examine how they can impact lives through design.”

Speakers include: Wired Editor-in-Chief Nicholas Thompson; Tito’s Handmade Vodka Chief Joyologist and Director of Philanthropy Amy Lukken; Forbes School of Business and Technology Professor Chitra Anand; Physician and Global Social Entrepreneur Dr. Shimi Kang; and New Cities Foundation Senior Fellow Greg Lindsay.

“Today’s design firm owners and leaders are inundated with things to do,” Fiser added. “Through Platform, we want them to focus on themselves and ignore the usual juggling and multitasking. Disruption enables innovation, and part of that is isolating yourself and experiencing a new environment.”
