Star/Orient Express Open Larger East Coast D.C. in High Point

Orient Express LogoContemporary and transitional case goods and upholstery resources Star International Furniture and Orient Express Furniture have completed the move of their East Coast distribution center to a 100,000 square-foot facility in High Point, N.C.

Carl Johnson, vice president of product development, described the facility as “a key step in our plans for the future.”

“We like to be the owner/ operators of our distribution buildings and our previous rental situation (in Sandston, Va.) did not fit with our business model. This is the first addition to our commercial real estate portfolio outside of Southern California.”

He said the building is in an ideal location close to major freeways, which provides for quick access to all major truck lines. The building features a 36-foot clear ceiling height and multiple dock doors with integrated levelers.

According to Johnson, the new building is 70% larger than the previous location. “We look forward to our ability to carry more inventory, which will give us the ability to service our customers better,” he said.

The move coincides with a new investment in a 10,000 square-foot Star/Orient Express showroom in the Showplace building, which will be open for the October High Point Market.
