Bunakara Hires Dierker as Social Media Manager

Valerie DierkerBunakara, a Portuguese resource for high-end home furnishings and textiles, is making a major push into social and digital media with the appointment of Valerie Dierker as its new social media manager.

A former buyer and merchandising director, Dierker most recently was merchandising director of AHAlife, where she led e-commerce sourcing efforts for all categories and devised brand strategies to increase revenue opportunities.

Earlier, she was a buyer for companies such as Gilt Groupe and Barnes & Noble, and managed curated product assortments spanning several categories, including accent furniture, lighting and home office.

As social media manager for Bunakara, Dierker will harness social media technology to express the company’s brand values through outreach campaigns intended to engage, connect and inspire Bunakara followers through the company’s social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

“Building brand awareness is the ultimate goal for Bunakara, and we are very excited to bring Valerie on board to help us use social media as a direct extension of the brand itself,” said Dixon Bartlett, U.S. national sales and marketing director. “We want to give people the chance to pause and revel in the details of Bunakara, and to take pleasure in the hidden nuances of our product line that signal true luxury. We feel strongly that social media is the perfect platform to do that.”

According to Dierker, what excites her most about Bunakara is how unexpected it is. She lauded designer Joana Aranha for creating products that are truly a manifestation of her heart and soul.

“After every meeting and conversation with Joana and her team, I walked away inspired and energized,” said Dierker. “They are indeed a family business and you can feel that intrinsic cohesion in what they do. Their focus in what the brand represents comes with an extraordinary sense of calm that is infectious.”
