Homestar Recalls TV Chests Due to Tip-Over Hazard
July 3,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Customer Service, Industry
Ready-to-assemble furniture producer Homestar has recalled about 1,470 of its Stockholm three-drawer TV chests because they pose a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard for children if they are not anchored to a wall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the chests do not meet the voluntary U.S standard for tip-over prevention, which is known as ASTM F2057-14.
The CPSC said no injuries have been reported, but said consumers should stop using the chests immediately and move them into an area that is inaccessible to children.
Homestar is offering consumers the choice of a full refund (including return shipping charges) or a free tip-over restraint kit.
Consumers may contact Homestar at 855-837-2569 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional information also is available at the company’s website www.homestarna.com by clicking on the “Recall Alert” link.
The chests were sold exclusively at Target.com from May 2015 through August 2016 for about $160.
