ASID And IDC Launch New Magazine for International Interior Design Profession

ASID and IDCThe American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) announced a new joint initiative that will bring their individual membership magazines—ICON and D—together into one new publication with broadened perspective and reach.

As the most influential design associations in the U.S. and Canada, ASID and IDC plan to create a publication that gets to the heart of what drives the design industry and the professionals that their respective organizations represent, support, and enrich through their programming.

The magazine builds on a history of the two organizations putting their collective strengths together for the benefit of the design community at large. In collaborating on programs, like GoPro and Impact Summit, the alignment of the organizations and their shared belief that design impacts lives has been notable.

The common goals of both organizations will be further enhanced by a concerted effort that brings readers unique design perspectives from around the world.

“Working with ASID has proven to be an important aspect of our annual programming so combining our editorial pages was a logical next step for a shared vision of design on both sides of the border,” said Tony Brenders, CEO, IDC.

“Add the benefit of providing manufacturers and suppliers with an opportunity to reach their clients internationally through one unified magazine and the answer became clear very quickly,” continued Brenders.

Randy Fiser, CEO of ASID said, “The ability to produce one North American magazine with content centered on ‘Design Impacts Lives’ was extremely appealing to ASID. Our new magazine will continue to provide the community at large with provocative, educational, and inspirational content.”

The ASID and IDC missions as associations are to advance the profession of interior design and build greater audience awareness of the significant, positive impact their members bring to the built environment. By joining together to create one publication that represents their common beliefs and goals, the organizations have added a new voice to the design dialogue.

An advisory committee from across North America has been established to contribute to the editorial vision for the new magazine, beginning with the selection of a new name for the new publication.

The first issue will be released this summer.
