Wright received five “best of” awards, six “special judges” awards, and an award of excellence. One of the “best of” awards was for a label for Lake Lindsey, Fla.-based Copperhead’s Southern Shine, a maker of handcrafted spirits. The winning label features an ebony background with embossed graphics in a rich, metallic copper.
“We’re honored by the awards and by the skill our team of employees bring to work each day,” said Greg Wright, president and CEO of Wright Global Graphics. “We continually stretch our creativity and innovation to deliver the best work possible for our clients. The PICAs are a great affirmation of our entire organization’s commitment to excellence.”
This year, the PICA Awards garnered more than 670 entries from 53 printing companies, along with more than 170 entries from seven graphic arts high schools and six college graphic arts programs from across North Carolina and South Carolina. Now in its 51st season, the PICA Awards competition remains one of the largest printing competitions in the country.
Last year, Wright won 11 awards, and the previous year took home seven PICAs. The most recent awards give the company a grand total of 50 PICA awards over the last six years.
A panel of out-of-state judges with experience in printing and print production reviewed the entries on a broad range of criteria, including registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal quality of paper, overall visual impact and more.
