Jerome’s Donates Furniture to Foster Care Facility

Southern California retailer Jerome’s Furniture has donated more than $6,000 worth of furniture to help foster children in the Los Angeles area.

The company assisted in furnishing the new First Star facility near the UCLA campus that will serve to improve life for victims of child abuse and neglect.

“We just opened our campus to provide comfort and safety in a warm, home environment for our students. Jerome’s Furniture came through for us in a big way to make this happen,” said Paige Chan, national director of FirstStar Academies. “We’re so grateful for their support in helping us ensure that foster youth have the academic, life skills and adult supports needed to successfully transition to higher education and adulthood.”

Included in the donation were five sofas, four television consoles, three bookcases, one large television console, two family room table sets, four additional tables, 24 side chairs and two full-size buffets.

“Jerome’s Furniture is a family owned and operated furniture store chain serving families in Southern California. We feel very close to the community who has let us into their homes for 60 years. It’s a special relationship,” said Jerry Navarra, chairman of Jerome’s. “Giving back has long been a stable of our ‘Real Family Values’ corporate culture, and being a supporter of organizations like FirstStar is a reflection of that mantra. We’re honored to do our part.”

First Star was founded in 1999 as a national 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to improving life for child victims of abuse and neglect. Since 2011, First Star has pioneered support programs to launch foster children into productive lives and careers through higher education.
