Ashley Donates $10K to Arts Programming at N.C. School System

Ashley for the Arts, the nonprofit arm of Ashley Furniture Inds. that supports arts programs, donated $10,000 to the Davie County Schools in Mocksville, N.C., during the school system’s recent Art Smart Festival.

The Art Smart Festival featured student artists, singers, dancers, musicians and actors from all the Davie County Schools Arts Education Departments.

In addition to the check presentation, Ashley representatives presented the annual Ashley for the Arts ‘Humanitarian Award’ to Eddie Greene, a WAN engineer in the school system’s technology department.

Greene was cited for his long-running support of the Art Smart Festival and arts programming, in general, by providing sound, lighting and technical support for middle school and high school theater productions.

“He is always ‘behind the scenes’ to support arts education, but he wants the spotlight to be on the children and their instructors rather than seeking any recognition himself,” the award selection committee wrote.
