May 22,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Economic News, Industry
Historically, March has been the strongest furniture sales month in the first quarter, but in recent years, it has become one of the strongest of the year, according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The reason: tax refunds.
The data showed that 8.7% of annual furniture sales were recorded in March 2016, well above February’s 8% and January’s 7.7%. In fact, March is the only month in the first quarter that has consistently outperformed the 8.3% average for all months, according to the Census Bureau.
