High Point-based luxury design firm Barbour Spangle Design won multiple design awards at the recent ASID Carolinas Excellence in Design Awards held in Charlotte, N.C., in April.
The firm won a first-place award for residential design and also took first place in the retail design category. The retail design category award was for America’s largest furniture store, Furnitureland South’s rug gallery, designed by Emma Legg and Barbour.
The two first place projects are located in High Point and Wrightsville Beach, N.C.
The firm also won second place for kitchen design at Summerfield Farms, designed by company co-founder Christi Spangle and Legg. The kitchen at Summerfield Farms is part of an events venue that includes a bridal suite, where the kitchen is located.
The American Society of Interior Designers presents the Excellence in Design Awards annually to recognize the best interior design projects in a range of categories.
The awards are especially meaningful, said co-founder, Christi Barbour.
“It is judged by our peers, and it’s a high honor to be recognized by such esteemed colleagues for excellence in design. The high caliber of designers in the entry pool is quite humbling, frankly.”
Founded by Christi Barbour and Christi Spangle, Barbour Spangle Design specializes in luxury residential, showroom, commercial, healthcare and educational design and works in four main categories; retail and showroom, luxury residential, education and healthcare and commercial. During the last three years, the company has received awards in all of those categories.
