Surya Employees Raise $11,300 for March of Dimes Event

Employees of rug and home décor resource Surya raised $11,300 for the March of Dimes “March for Babies” event in Northwest Georgia.

The company, which has its corporate headquarters and distribution center in Cartersville, Ga., was a Signature Sponsor of the May 5 march.

Numerous Surya employees participated in a 5K walk/run to raise funds and awareness of the March of Dimes’ initiatives. And leading up to the event, over 200 employees, along with friends and family members, donated to multiple fundraisers that included weekly pancake breakfasts, “Change for Change” jars and tote bag sales with proceeds going to the march’s funds.

“We are pleased to partner with the March of Dimes organization again this year,” said Satya Tiwari, president of Surya. “As a recent father, I personally relate to and empathize with parents’ desire for smooth pregnancies and healthy deliveries. The March of Dimes’ research alongside its assistance to families of children born prematurely or with deficiencies represents incredibly important work and the Surya family fully supports and encourages it.”

The Northwest Georgia “March for Babies” has raised $48,555 to date, with more donations still being submitted.

The “March for Babies” events raised nearly $90 million in 500 communities in the United States in 2016. The money supports five March of Dimes research centers where about 200 scientists and doctors are conducting research aimed at preventing premature births.
